thanks so much

thanks-706858_640When did the simple “thank you” morph into the new standard “thanks so much?” It seems like for every “thank you” or simply “thanks” that I hear (or say), I hear (or say) “thanks so much” ten times more often. When I went to my favorite browser to see if I could track down the timeline, I found that this question has already been raised and satisfactorily answered. The Grammarphobia Blog add some interesting history in their post—good stuff. Thanks so much!
