stepping out

I inherited my love of words from my Dad. Some of my favorite memories of time with him were weekly trips to the library and Saturday night dinners, when the house rule allowed reading at the dinner table. I never dreamed that this early foundation would eventually lead  to making a living with language. It has been a circuitous path, but I have now been a writer, editor, project manager, event planner, and business consultant for more than a decade.

My writing assignments have primarily been behind the scenes for various companies and non-profit organizations. You’ll rarely see my byline, but I’ve had my hands in (via the keyboard) reports, manuals, brochures, direct mail pieces, telemarketing scripts, Web pages, and yes, blogs. I write as a representative of my employer, mindful of their brand and style.

Now I feel like the Wizard of Oz stepping out from behind the curtain. This blog is me. No hiding.
